Parents are the primary educators of their children. Our mission is to support and help parents as they teach their children the Catholic faith, forming them as disciples of Christ.
The faith is "caught not taught." What children learn and experience in the Faith Formation classroom is meant to reinforce the faith they are "catching" from their parents and be a springboard for further growth. Our catechists look forward to helping you pass the faith on to your children. Throughout the Liturgical Year, we provide opportunities for families to learn and grow in faith, to worship, and to serve the community.
Sunday Mass attendance every week and on Holy Days with their family is a vital part of your child's Faith Formation. They cannot learn the faith and how to be disciples of Christ if they are not living the faith with their family.
We also offer a Youth Ministry program for our students to help them grow in community with their peers as disciples of Christ.
Check the Parish Calendar for class dates. Reminders are also posted on the Faith Formation Families GroupMe, link for registered families is in the monthly e-newsletter.
Contact the Director of Faith Formation, Sue at sneis@syrdio.org ASAP to sign your children up!
The first day is always very busy, please make arrangements with Sue ahead of time.
*There is a nominal Registration fee to contribute towards the cost of materials. $30/child or $60/family max. If this is a hardship for you, please let the Director know.
Every year St. Patrick's Faith Formation & Youth Ministry families walk with members of our parish and community in the annual Chittenango Crop Walk.
This year's Crop Hunger Walk is Sunday October 18 through downtown Chittenango.
In the months preceeding the walk, walkers are asked to raise funds to help fight hunger here in our community and around the world. The portion of funds raised for Chittenango benefits the Sullivan Food Cupboard.
All families are invited to join.
All Faith Formation & Youth Ministry volunteers must complete the Diocesan Safe Environment training and pass a background check.
Catechists must be Confirmed Catholics, 18 years or older (provide proof of Sacraments), and be an active, registered parishioner of St. Patrick's, living an authentically Catholic life. All volunteers interested in joining the Faith Formation & Youth Ministry must have a meeting with the Director to discuss the volunteer position you are inquiring about.
